2nd grade
I usually have checkout at the end of our 45 min library time, but today I had it in the middle. A quick lesson on how to find a "just right book", move (walk), choose (a sensible spot to sit) and get right to work. The students checked out after they found books. It took a while, in spite of ALL the previous lessons I've done on 5 finger rule, etc.!!!! That really reinforced for me how much I need to talk less and have them model more! (hmmm products - like short videos of how they do it)
But for the last 5 minutes, they all were on task, reading a book they could each read successfully. Melissa
